BRIDGEGOOD, A non-profit in Oakland that supports BIPOC creatives and creates a space where conversations about the importance of equity in design and technology can happen, holds an annual design competition that prompts university and college students from all over the Bay Area to create a design piece that addresses what about Oakland inspires them the most. I took inspiration from the history of the Black Panther and Brown Beret parties in the city of Oakland. These two parties that fought for equality of their people worked closely together during the 70s to create the free breakfast program and many more programs that would help their communities. I wanted to highlight these two revolutionary groups in a positive and inspirational light because that's what inspires me the most about Oakland-- the revolutionary spirit. I won this design contest and my work was placed on bus benches across Oakland as well as a billboard in the city of Berkeley.
